The Rhone Valley of France is the epicenter for Syrah, producing some of the most sought-after wines on the planet. However, since the first Syrah vines were planted in 1986, the variety has also become a prize-winning player in Washington, producing some of the state’s most iconic wines. How does Washington Syrah compare to their French counterparts and what makes Washington Syrah unique? In this seminar, we’ll taste classic Syrahs from the Rhone, and then dive headfirst into exploring what makes the great single-vineyard Syrahs of Washington so compelling.
